Limelight Show in Belfast tomorrow

Well we can officially say that there shall be no less than 10 new album tunes being played at the Limelight show tomorrow night.
There will of course be some old favourites on show too!

November’s getting closer!

Master & Dog hit the road again in November. The lads will cover Coleraine and Portrush as part of the Atlantic Sessions, as well as, Belfast, Dublin and Draperstown for their own dates.

Some supports are yet to be 100% confirmed, however I can tell you that Yngve will be opening both the Belfast and Dublin dates. Sons of Caliber are also on the bill for the Portrush date.

Master & Dog Announced For The Atlantic Sessions

Master & Dog are pleased to announce that they shall be playing two nights of the Atlantic Sessions this November.

The lads head back to The Listening Post, Coleraine University on the 11th of Nov and then hit up The Playhouse in Portrush the following night (12th Nov). Sons of Caliber will also be on the bill in Portrush.

Belfast, Dublin and Draperstown

As the recording process starts to wind down the lads are about to switch the studio for the live circuit again!
To start with, Master & Dog will be playing Belfast’s Limelight on Thurs Nov 24th, Dublin’s Whelans on Fri Nov 25th and Draperstown’s Cellar Bar on Sat Nov 26th.
More live dates to be announced soon so keep your eyes peeled!

I’ve been told there’s a chance that there might be some new material available for purchase at the shows too. One thing is for certain though, the lads intend to start showcasing the new album on this mini tour so get your ear holes to one of the gigs!

Forfey, The Garden Sessions and the second album

Well we’ve played our first gig in 4 months and our first acoustic gig in over a year in this past week.

Let’s start with Forfey. Our first time at the festival and I have to say that it won’t be the last, be it as part of the line-up or just as punters. New songs were debuted in front of a packed venue and a good time was had by all…we’d certainly like to think so anyway.

Moving on to Offaly and the Chestnut for the three day festival that is The Garden Sessions. It’s been on hiatus the last few years but the festival came back with a bang this time round. We were lucky enough to be playing on the same line-up as some of our favourite Irish acts that included Cathy Davey, Windings, R.S.A.G amongst others. The set included another two new starts which were well received and has made us that little bit more excited about finishing our second record.

Finally on to the album progress report. Initially we had hoped to have finished the bulk of recording by the start of August but due to the sheer number of songs (we have whittled it down from 34 to 22 now) that we’ve decided to complete it’s taken a little longer than expected. On the bright side there are 22, what we deem to be, album worthy songs.
We’ve been toying with names for the second record and think we’ve settled on a self titled album.
I’ll just put this out there while on topic, there is no chance of us releasing a double album. I don’t think any of us have ever agreed with the format.
The other side of that is, of course, that there won’t be as long a wait for our third album (hopefully).

Right off to rehearsals, we’re playing a beer fest in Lisburn at the end of this month! See you there! New tunes ahoy! More exclamation marks!!!

Days of drums, dithers and drones.

So we’ve been tracking drums for the last wee while. 7 songs done. Quite odd getting stuff tracked this time around as we’re mostly writing new stuff as we record.
For the last album we had years to arrange all the parts, which nearly makes you sick of the songs before you’ve even released the record.
It’s all fresh and new this time. Although a little daunting trying to come up with something you’re happy to keep on the finished article.
I’m dithering on a bit now.
One last note on the drums, Kev has managed to get his double kick drum on one of the new songs, something the rest of us said would never happen. The Kev 1 – The Lads 786… well played sir.

Should also use this platform to thank whoever on BBC’s ATL said they were looking forward to seeing us on this years festival circuit. Unfortunately we’re only taking on one festival this year as recording takes priority. So we’ll see you at Forfey?

Well that’s it for now. Maybe some more drivel tomorrow…maybe…

Album number two

Well you’ll all be glad to hear that work on the second album has begun. We’ve holed ourselves into our studio for the next two months and shall resurface with a new album in hand in August.
The title is still tbc but I can tell you that if you were any of the last few live dates that you’ve already heard at least one of the tracks off the new record.
We’ll post videos and pics up in time, and maybe even snippets of new tunes too if we’re feeling generous.

Wedding bells, radar and a new album

First off, we at Master and Dog would like to congratulate Mr. & Mrs. Hanna on getting married today. They’ve been to nearly every gig we’ve had in Belfast since the beginning and truly are a couple deserving of mass amounts of happiness.

Next on the agenda: Radar, which takes place this Thurs the 14th of April. This will be our final gig in Belfast until our next album is finished so do make it down if you can. Also playing on the night are The Funeral Suits and one of Walters fav bans Arc Royale.

Finally, tracking on the new album begins on the 7th of May in our own loft studio. There will be teasers put up here every now and again so keep your eyes peeled.
